Time Required: Year-Round Activities (November-March Main Time Commitment)

Responsible To: VCS Athletic Director

Responsibilities:

  1. Be available for all afternoon practices, designated home Basketball games (select away games) and Tournaments (Regional and State send offs for teams).
  2. Work with VCS Pep Band to plan all basketball timeouts and half-time routines.
  3. Work with ASB, High School Principal, and AD to promote school spirit and help with pep rallies (Including poster making, team locker decorating and gift baskets for all VCS Sports Teams and Clubs).
  4. Support community events and athletic fundraising when needed (Valleyfest Parade, Lilac Parade).
  5. Be available for summer practices/Summer Cheer Camps and tumbling classes.
  6. Proactive communications with athletes, parents, and the athletic director.
  7. Care of cheer uniforms, equipment (including Panther Mascot), and cheer practice space.
  8. Attend coaching clinics and classes to maintain WIAA coaching credentials for the State of Washington.
  9. Must be an organized and proactive communicator with athletes, families, AD, and VCS Staff.
  10. Keep Cheer Athletes accountable to school policies per the sports/coach’s handbook.
  11. Advance the cheer program by interacting with the younger potential cheer students (oversee the 6th- 8th grade cheer program if included).
  12. Plan for the following year in the spring.
  13. Organizing an after-season awards banquet with the help of the Athletic Director.

Qualifications:

  1. Related Cheer experience through coaching and, or personal practical experience
  2. Born Again Christian
  3. Committed Christian Life/Testimony – Strong Christian Mentorship
  4. Passion to work with young people
  5. Required to have a valid First Aid Card
  6. Your duties will involve not only the responsibilities ordinarily incumbent with your position at VCS but also those responsibilities related to the special spiritual ministry to which you are called, the training of the child in biblical Christian faith and practice. Employees play a vital role in carrying out the religious mission of instructing the next generation in the faith. In a very real sense, therefore, it is the expectation that you will strive at all times to understand, appreciate, and love the students entrusted to you for their fullest intellectual, physical, emotional, and spiritual development. As a servant of the Lord Jesus Christ, you will faithfully attend the regular services of your church as an example of the believer.
