Living Out Faith in Community and Service

At Valley Christian School, faith is more than a subject in the classroom – it is the heartbeat of our community. Students and staff begin each day in prayer, gather weekly for chapel, and serve the community together through projects like the Panther Project. Our goal is to see every student grow in their walk with Christ while preparing to impact the world for His glory.

Learning and serving with joy.

A Foundation for Lifelong Faith and Discipleship

Valley Christian School exists to partner with Christian families in raising children who love and follow Jesus. Faith is not something set aside for chapel or Bible class. It shapes every subject, every relationship, and every activity on campus. Students learn to see the world through a biblical lens and to recognize God’s truth as the foundation for life.

Discipleship at VCS happens in many ways. Teachers model Christ-like character in the classroom, older students mentor and pray with younger ones, and the entire school serves the community through projects that make the love of Christ visible. Each experience prepares students not only for academic success, but also for a life of service to God and others.

The Panther Project

Each year, the entire Valley Christian School community comes together for the Panther Project, an all-school day of service across Spokane. Students, teachers, and families work side by side in projects that meet real needs and share Christ’s love in practical ways.

From cleaning parks to serving local ministries, from encouraging first responders to helping neighbors, students learn that service is not just an activity but a calling. The Panther Project gives every student a hands-on opportunity to live out the truth that faith without works is dead.

This day of service is one of the highlights of the year. It reminds us that education at VCS extends far beyond the classroom. By serving together, our students grow in humility, compassion, and courage. They see that they can make a difference for Christ right now.

God

God exists in three persons — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — co-equal, co-eternal, and co-essential.

Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is God incarnate, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross for the sins of the world, was buried, rose again, and is ascended to the Father’s right hand, where He intercedes for believers.

Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, teaches and guides believers into truth, indwells every true believer, empowers for service, and baptizes all believers into the body of Christ.

Humanity

Humanity was created in God’s image, but through Adam’s fall, all people are sinners by nature and practice, in need of new birth to be forgiven and saved from eternal separation from God.

Salvation

Salvation is by grace through faith alone in Christ’s substitutionary death, apart from works.

Spiritual Growth

Spiritual Growth is the privilege and responsibility of every believer, pursued through obedience to Scripture and reliance on the indwelling Holy Spirit.

The Church

The Church is one body composed of all true believers, with Jesus Christ as its head.

Prayer at VCS

Prayer is at the heart of Valley Christian School. Every class begins in prayer, every chapel and meeting is opened with prayer, and administrators walk the campus each quarter praying for students and families. Students also experience prayer through mentorship as older students pray with and encourage younger ones.

  • Daily classroom prayer

  • Weekly chapels opened in prayer
  • Mentorship and “prayer buddies”
  • Administration and staff prayer walks across campus

See You at the Pole

Each year, VCS joins with students across the nation for See You at the Pole, a day dedicated to student-led prayer. Before the school day begins, students gather around the flagpole to pray for their school, community, and nation. This annual event is a visible reminder that our hope is in Christ and that prayer unites believers in a powerful way.

A Service-Centered Education

The Panther Project

Once a year, the entire VCS community joins together for a day of service across Spokane. Students, teachers, and families work side by side to meet real needs, showing the love of Christ through action.

Weekly
Chapels

Each week, students gather to worship, hear God’s Word, and pray together. Chapels are a vital rhythm of spiritual growth where students learn to apply biblical truth to daily life.

See You at the Pole

Every fall, VCS students join with peers across the nation for a morning of prayer around the flagpole. They lift up their school, community, and country, demonstrating bold faith in public.

Student Mentorship

Older students come alongside younger ones as prayer partners and encouragers. These relationships build community and model discipleship, helping faith grow across grade levels.

Worship
Team

Student-led worship teams guide the school in chapel services. By using their musical gifts to glorify God, they lead peers into authentic praise and set an example of servant leadership.

Community Service

Beyond the Panther Project, students serve throughout the year in class projects and local outreach. Service is woven into life at VCS as an expression of living out the Gospel.
