Responsible To: VCS Elementary Principal

(VCS Upper Elementary Teacher openings include possible individual teaching positions for Grades 3, 4, 5, and 6.)

Duties will involve not only the responsibilities ordinarily incumbent with the position at VCS but also those responsibilities related to the special spiritual ministry to which you are called, the training of the child in biblical Christian faith and practice. Employees play a vital role in carrying out the religious mission of instructing the next generation in the faith. In a very real sense, therefore, it is the expectation that you will strive at all times to understand, appreciate, and love the students entrusted to you for their fullest intellectual, physical, emotional, and spiritual development. As a servant of the Lord Jesus Christ, it is expected that you will faithfully attend the regular services of your church as an example of the believer.

 Teaching Responsibilities:  

• Upper Elementary (Grades 3-6): Reading, English Language Arts, Spelling, Math, Science, History, Art, and Bible classes.

Qualifications:

1. Minimum BA/BS Degree in the area of education or a related educational field.
2. ACSI Temporary, Standard, or Professional Teaching Certificate (or willingness to acquire).
3. WA State Teaching Certificate (preferred, not mandatory).
4. Elementary Education Classroom Teaching Experience.
5. Excellent classroom management, communication, organizational skills, and relational instruction.
6. Ability to plan and differentiate instruction for various learning/skill levels.
7. Born Again Believer and follower of Jesus Christ.
8. Committed Spirit led Christian Life/Example.
9. Commitment to a Biblical Worldview philosophy of education.
10. Commitment to professional growth/development and peer collaboration.
11. A calling and passion to work with and love young people.

Salary and Benefits:

• VCS has a 4-day per week schedule for students: Monday – Thursday
• Teacher contracts are 172 days, including non-student days at the beginning and end of the year, and a percentage of Fridays for in-service, conferences, independent workdays, and special events.
• Full Time Teacher salary range is from $32, 892 to 51,558 depending on experience, certifications, and education
• Part-time salaries are based on the number of classes taught (Six is full-time, so teaching five would be 5/6 of the full-time salary)
• VCS pays the full premium for a high-deductible health plan for the employee.
