Time Required: Part Time – Contract August 17, 2026– June 11, 2027

2 full days of classes taught each week (Mondays & Wednesdays, 8:30-3:00pm), weekly teacher collaboration (7:45-8) & in-service/Panther Project days; 72 teaching days & 14 in-service/PTC days (total 84 contract days)

Responsible To: VCS Homeschool Coordinator & Homeschool Director

Your duties will involve not only the responsibilities ordinarily incumbent with your position at VCS but also those responsibilities related to the special spiritual ministry to which you are called, the training of the child in biblical Christian faith and practice. Employees play a vital role in carrying out the religious mission of instructing the next generation in the faith. In a very real sense, therefore, it is the expectation that you will strive at all times to understand, appreciate, and love the students entrusted to you for their fullest intellectual, physical, emotional, and spiritual development. As a servant of the Lord Jesus Christ, you will faithfully attend the regular services of your church as an example of the believer.

 

PAY INFORMATION:

  • Pay scale: $33,892 to $50,765 based on Experience, Education, and Certifications.
  • Pay is pro-rated for part-time positions based on the percentage of time worked.

  • Tuition waiver (90% for full-time) for qualifying children (part-time pro-rated based on contracted hours)
  • Full medical health insurance premium paid for the employee only (available to full-time employees)
  • 401K matching up to 3% after 10 Months (available to full-time employees)
  • 8 Sick Days and 3 Personal Days (part-time pro-rated based on contracted hours)

WORKING DAYS & HOURS:

  • 4-day student week with teacher contracts totaling 172 days/Admin 191 days
  • Typical hours full-time: 7:15am–4:15pm, Monday–Thursday; approximately half of Fridays required for parent-teacher conferences, In-Service trainings, events, or other workdays.
  • Part-time work hours are pro-rated and determined based on agreed upon schedule and the needs of the job requirements.

 SPIRITUAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Shall be a committed born-again Christian with Spirit-led Christian life and testimony.
  • Shall exhibit spiritual maturity and concern for the spiritual, social, emotional, and academic welfare of the students.
  • Commitment to a Biblical Worldview philosophy of education and life.

 

Description of classes to be taught:

Teach Science, History, & Bible

Lead enrichment in Reading, PE, Computer, Art, Drama, Speech &/or Music

 

Elementary Upper-level classroom grades 4th-6th (No more than 18 students)

Description of Responsibilities: It is important that homeschool program teachers work well with both students and parents, offering encouragement and support while maintaining a high standard of expectation for student work.

  • Prepare scope and sequence for all classes taught.
  • Plan, prepare and teach lessons for each weekly class day utilizing a Biblical World View philosophy and meeting multiple learning styles of the students.
  • Lead enrichment during classroom day to promote student connection and social/emotional growth.
  • Communicate weekly with parents as to what was taught in class and if anything is expected of the students and parents for the week.
  • Give minimal homework
  • Plan and lead 1 Field Trip each year
  • Attend In-service days, Panther Project & Parent Teacher Conference days

 

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum BA/BS Degree in area of instruction or related educational field; or Equivalent Experience
  2. ACSI Temporary, Standard, or Professional Teaching Certificate (or willingness to acquire)
  3. WA State Teaching Certificate (preferred, not mandatory)
  4. Elementary Homeschool and Classroom Teaching Experience
  5. Committed Christian Life/Testimony
  6. Commitment to a Biblical Worldview and Christian philosophy of education.
  7. A love for and passion to work with young people
