Position: Head High School Track Coach

Report to: VCS Athletic Director

Dates: March-May 2027

Stipend: $4,000 for season

 

Duties will involve not only the responsibilities ordinarily incumbent with the position at VCS but also those responsibilities related to the special spiritual ministry to which you are called, the training of the child in biblical Christian faith and practice. Employees play a vital role in carrying out the religious mission of instructing the next generation in the faith. In a very real sense, therefore, it is the expectation that you will strive at all times to understand, appreciate, and love the students entrusted to you for their fullest intellectual, physical, emotional, and spiritual development. As a servant of the Lord Jesus Christ, it is expected that you will faithfully attend the regular services of your church as an example of the believer.

 

Responsibilities are but not limited to:

  1. Committed Christian Life/Testimony-Providing strong Christian mentorship and sportsmanship ability.
  2. Passion to work with young people and positively assist adolescent development.
  3. Assumes responsibility for the entire program which includes:
  4. Coaching the Varsity squad and supervising assisting coaches
  5. Develop a vision for the program and implement it throughout VCS
  6. Be on time and available for all meets and practices (weekday and weekend meets, weekday practices).
  7. Proactively communicate well, orally and written, to Athletes, Parents, and Athletic Director ( Use of Team Snap).
  8. Must be organized and develop an effective meet competition and practice plan.
  9. Provide athletes with fundamental skills and strategies within department-wide goals.
  10. Ability to promote teamwork and motivate student-athletes through competition.
  11. Keep track of athletic equipment and uniforms issued and systematically return all equipment at the finish of the season.
  12. Monitor athletic eligibility and motivate athletes to maintain academic achievement.
  13. Works closely with the Athletic Director in preparation and maintenance of fields, track, locker rooms, and storage areas.
  14. Help coordinate and attend athletic fundraisers.
  15. Conduct parent meetings. Communicate vision, goals, and philosophy clearly.
  16. Coordination of the Track Athletic awards banquet.
  17. Ability to drive a passenger van when required.
  18. Read, understand, and support the mission and Core Values of Valley Christian School.
  19. Support and follow the parent/student handbook, athletics handbook, WIAA handbook, and NFHS rules and regulations handbook.
  20. Performs other duties as assigned by AD.

 

Qualifications:

  • Committed Born Again Christian Life and Testimony
  • A Mature Biblical Worldview
  • Varsity-level coaching and track experience
  • Participation in coaching clinics and classes to maintain WIAA coaching credentials
  • Agreement with VCS Coaching Contract and Addendum
  • First Aid/CPR Certified
  • Fingerprint/Background Clearances
  • Valid Driver’s License
