Teaching Responsibilities: High School and/or Middle School Teacher
Growth in our student body and course offerings has created the need for additional teachers at Valley Christian! We are looking for dynamic Christian teachers who are confident teaching in their areas of expertise. We anticipate openings across grades 7-12 in English, Bible, Geometry, ASL, Personal Finance, Junior High Science, WA State History, and Specialty Electives. Teaching positions may be full-time or part-time and may be combined with other content areas that suit the candidate’s interests and abilities. Duties will involve not only the responsibilities ordinarily incumbent with the position at VCS but also those responsibilities related to the special spiritual ministry to which you are called, the training of the child in biblical Christian faith and practice. Employees play a vital role in carrying out the religious mission of instructing the next generation in the faith. In a very real sense, therefore, it is the expectation that you will strive at all times to understand, appreciate, and love the students entrusted to you for their fullest intellectual, physical, emotional, and spiritual development. As a servant of the Lord Jesus Christ, it is expected that you will faithfully attend the regular services of your church as an example of the believer.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum BA/BS Degree in the subject area to be taught (or a related field).
- Committed Born Again Christian with Spirit-led Christian Life and Testimony.
- Commitment to a Biblical Worldview philosophy of education and instruction
- ACSI Temporary, Standard, or Professional Teaching Certificate (or willingness to acquire)
- Excellent classroom management, communication, organizational skills, and relational instruction.
- Ability to work with and differentiate instruction for various learning levels.
- A calling and passion to work with the ministry of a Christian school.
Additional Valued Qualifications:
- Secondary (7-12 grade) classroom teaching experience
- Christian School teaching experience
- Washington or other State Teaching Certificate (preferred, not mandatory)
- Experience with a Student Information System (SIS). We use FACTS.
- Ability to coach or facilitate extra-curricular activities
Salary and Benefits:
- VCS has a 4-day per week schedule for students: Monday – Thursday
- Teacher contracts are 172 days, including non-student days at the beginning and end of the year, and a percentage of Fridays for in-service, conferences, independent workdays, and special events.
- Full Time Teacher salary range is from $32, 892 to 51,558 depending on experience, certifications, and education
- Part-time salaries are based on the number of classes taught (Six is full-time, so teaching five would be 5/6 of the full-time salary)
