Job Summary:

Valley Christian School is seeking a diligent and motivated Part-Time Grant Writer to join our team. The successful candidate will report directly to Justin Barrs, the Director of Development, and will be responsible for maintaining our existing grant from the Hagan Foundation and actively seeking new grant opportunities to support the school’s mission and initiatives. This role requires effective communication, strong research skills, and a comprehensive understanding of the grant application process.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and sustain the current grant provided by the Hagan Foundation through regular communication and compliance with the foundation’s requirements.
  • Conduct thorough research to identify and evaluate potential grant opportunities that align with Valley Christian School’s mission and strategic goals.
  • Prepare, write, and submit grant proposals, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Development and other relevant stakeholders to gather information, data, and supporting documents necessary for grant applications.
  • Attend mandatory post-grant meetings with funders and deliver presentations as needed.
  • Maintain a comprehensive database of grant opportunities, submissions, and outcomes, providing regular reports and updates to the Director of Development.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with potential grantors, foundations, and funding organizations to maximize opportunities for securing grants.
  • Stay informed about current trends, policies, and best practices in the grant writing field, applying this knowledge to enhance grant-seeking strategies for the school.

 

Requirements:

  • Born Again Christian with evident Christian walk.
  • A successful track record of securing grants for educational institutions or nonprofit organizations.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to craft compelling and persuasive grant proposals.
  • Strong research abilities, including the capacity to identify and analyze relevant funding sources and grant opportunities.
  • Familiarity with grant application processes, regulations, and reporting requirements.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple grant projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in using relevant software and tools for grant research, writing, and reporting.

 

Employment Details:

  • Position: Part-Time Grant Writer
  • Hours: 10 hours per week (opportunity for role expansion with the acquisition of additional grants)
  • Compensation: $21 per hour
  • Location: Valley Christian School, Spokane Valley, Washington (option for remote work with availability for occasional in-person meetings)
  • Tuition Discount (for parents only): 10% tuition discount
