Homeschool Teaching & Enrichment Leader Position

Contracted By: Valley Christian School

Time Required: Part-Time

  • Contract August 2022– June 2023
  • 1 full day of classes taught each week (8:15-3:00pm) & in-service/Panther Project/Graduation; 36 teaching days & 2-3 in-service days.

Responsible To: VCS Homeschool Coordinator & Head Administrator

List of classes to be taught:

  • Middle School Saxon Math Level 8/7 & 7/8
  • Elementary Enrichment Focus (one per quarter)
  • Middle School Enrichment Focus (one per quarter)
  • High School Enrichment Focus (one per quarter)

Description of Responsibilities: It is important that homeschool program teachers work well with both students and parents, offering encouragement and support while maintaining a high standard of expectation for student work.

  • Prepare course syllabus for all academic classes taught.
  • Plan, prepare and teach lessons for each weekly class day utilizing a Biblical World View philosophy and meeting multiple learning styles of the students.
  • Prepare and send home weekly assignments for all middle and high school academic classes.
  • Grade the assigned work (parents grade Math daily work). Grade all tests.
  • Enter grades and attendance in FACTS (school software system) for Middle and High School classes.
  • Communicate weekly with parents as to what was taught in class and what is expected of the students and parents for the week. Inform parents of missing assignments or poor grades.
  • Prepare and Lead Enrichment Focus for Elementary, Middle and High school classes; activities that are more interactive and hands on in areas that you as a teacher are passionate about and experienced in (PE, Art, Music, Drama, Home Ec, Foreign Language, STEM).
  • Attend In-service, Panther Project, and Homeschool Graduation.

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum BA/BS Degree in area of instruction or related educational field; or Equivalent Experience.
  2. ACSI Temporary, Standard, or Professional Teaching Certificate (or willingness to acquire).
  3. WA State Teaching Certificate (preferred, not mandatory).
  4. Homeschool and Classroom Teaching Experience.
  5. Committed Christian Life/Testimony.
  6. Commitment to a Biblical Worldview and Christian philosophy of education.
  7. A love for and passion to work with young people.
