Position: High School Assistant Track Coach

Contracted by: Valley Christian School

Report to: Head Track Coach and VCS Athletic Director

Dates: March-May 2025

Stipend: $1700 per season

 

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  1. Committed Christian Life/Testimony-strong Christian mentorship and sportsmanship ability.
  2. Passion to work with young people and positively assist adolescent development.
  3. Provide athletes with fundamental skills and strategies within department-wide goals in the following areas:
  4. Primary responsibility in coaching in horizontal jumps (long and triple)
  5. May also include coaching hurdles (110m/100m and 300m hurdles)
  6. Assist with strength and conditioning
  7. Officiate long and triple jump events at home meets when needed
  8. Be on time and available for all meets and practices (weekday and weekend meets, weekday practices).
  9. Participate in parent meetings. Proactively communicate with other coaches, athletes, parents, and the A.D.
  10. Must be organized and develop an effective meet competition and practice plan with other coaches.
  11. Ability to promote teamwork and motivate student-athletes through competition.
  12. Help motivate athletes to maintain academic achievement and eligibility.
  13. Work with the Head Coaches and A.D. in preparation/maintenance of fields, track, locker rooms, and storage areas.
  14. Communicate vision, goals, and philosophy clearly with other VCS Coaches.
  15. Ability to drive a passenger van when required (CDL for bus driving is highly desired).
  16. Read, understand, and support the mission and Core Values of Valley Christian School.
  17. Attend/complete coaching clinics and classes to maintain WIAA coaching credentials
  18. Support and follow the parent/student handbook, athletics handbook, WIAA handbook, and NFHS rules and regulations handbook.
  19. Performs other duties as assigned by the Varsity Head Coach and AD.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • High school coaching and track experience desired
  • Agreement with VCS Coaching Contract and Addendum
  • First Aid/CPR Certified (or willing to acquire)
  • Fingerprint/Background Clearances
  • Valid Driver’s License
