This year marked 31 years of the VCS tradition of honoring our veterans with a musical program and 29 years of taking that program down to the Union Gospel Mission as a community outreach. This year we took close to 60 VCS students down to the Mission to share God’s love and our heartfelt appreciation with over 40 veterans as well as other guests.
Our special speaker this year was Specialist Bradley Heden, son of our own Mrs. Debbie Heden! It was incredibly powerful having him share of the sacrifices made not only by those who serve, but by the family and friends who send a loved one off into service. Thank you for bravely following in your father’s footsteps, Brad, and for all those who selflessly serve our country.
After the program, the VCS Intermediate and Advanced Band had an opportunity to serve and give back as well by serving lunch to dozens of homeless men in the UGM cafeteria. Our students were blessed by this experience of giving to others. What a blessing to be able to serve together in our community. It is part of what makes VCS so special!
